Antarctica

A journey to Antarctica had been on my bucket list for many years.  This dream became a reality when David and I ventured on a 10-day National Geographic Cruise on Lindblad’s newest ship, the Endurance.

The Drake passage was harrowing at times, but well worth the prize on the other side.  In this case, it was not just the destination, but the journey as well. At the sight of the first iceberg, I was hooked, and knew at that moment, this trip far exceeded any expectations I envisioned. We cruised through choppy seas, tranquil blue waters and past icebergs as massive as office buildings. Just like snowflakes, each iceberg is distinct, crafting its own mystique. I could have watched the penguins all day, waddling across the ice, jumping into the water, and propelling across the waters in search of food. Seals sleep on floating icebergs, and orcas and belugas swam next to our zodiacs, blowing water through their spouts, doing their ‘dance’ with their flukes up in the air.  Their immensity brought you back to how small we are in this universe.

For those of you who will not have the opportunity to visit this magical continent, I share this adventure with you through my images.
